Urotensin-II (UT) receptors are Gq/11-protein-coupled receptors that mediate complex hemodynamic effects andinfluence neuromuscular physiology. UT receptors display greatest expression levels in the peripheralvasculature, heart and kidney, although they are found in other tissues, notably the central nervous system,at lower levels. UT receptors produce potent but variable vasoconstrictor effects in some vascular beds yetmediate vasodilation in others and they have also been implicated in osmoregulation.
