Kv1.4 is a voltage-gated, fast-inactivating, A-type potassium ion channel also known as HuK(II), hPCN2, HK1, RCK4, RHK1, RK4, RK8 and MK4. It is expressed in the CNS, lung, skeletal muscle, heart and pancreatic islet cells. It is responsibly for neuronal after hypolarization. The expression of Kv1.4 has been shown to increase after induction of diabetes and in ventricular myocytes after a heart attack.
